Ørsted - About us

The Ørsted vision is a world that runs entirely on green energy. Ørsted develops, constructs, and operates offshore and onshore wind farms, solar farms, energy storage facilities, renewable hydrogen and green fuels facilities, and bioenergy plants. Headquartered in Denmark, Ørsted employs approx. 8,900 people worldwide.

Ranked the world’s most sustainable energy developer by Corporate Knights 2024, Ørsted is recognised on the CDP Climate Change A List as a global leader on climate action and was the first energy company in the world to have its science-based net-zero emissions target validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

We own and operate a 378 MW portfolio of onshore wind farms in local communities across the island of Ireland, which produce enough renewable energy to power 246,000 households. It’s our ambition to grow our capacity across Ireland and Northern Ireland significantly over the next decade. To achieve this, we aim to develop more than 1,000 MW new onshore assets, repower existing assets, grow our presence in the energy storage market, and enter into the Irish offshore sector.

Environmental Protection

We want to help build a sustainable future for everyone and support this ambition by building relationships with our neighbours, supporting local environmental initiatives and putting policies in place which mean as a business, we do the right thing.

Environmental protection including preservation of biodiversity is at the core of our sustainable business practices. We ensure that our projects meet or exceed all statutory requirements and best practice guidelines in relation to environmental protection. Ørsted aims to deliver a net-positive biodiversity impact from all new renewable energy projects it commissions from 2030 at the latest.
